Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 amβ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Bronx is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Bronx is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Love Love Love this park been going there since we were kids. It's not too small it's not too big it's just right and you can keep an eye on your children from almost anywhere in the park plenty to do

The park badly needs a modern upgrade. It still looks like a park built in the 80's. It needs to have a workout station, & track field. The children's area desperately needs an upgrade as well. If the city can build them in Soundview, & the Yankee Stadium area of the Bronx, they surely can do the same for Haffen. Ppl use the park daily to exercise, so why haven't they built a track /football/soccer field is just inexcusable.... The basketball courts need an upgrade as well. Yes the have fiberglass backboards, but the can be repaved, as well as the surface on the tennis courts Well IMHO, the city, needs to step up to the 21st century and remodel the park.

Courts were used for practice and coaching events. Great to see how much these courts were in demand. Three courts were equipped with lights enabling there use late in the evening.

The courts aren't the best but they aren't many cracks. The nets are sometimes run down a bit but overall a nice place to hit balls. Also, 3 courts are lit by floodlights for late evening/night hitting.
